Here is how our Austin Pet Rehoming Team Presented Rey to Attract Her New Family:

Rey is a “diamond in the ruff”. This very pretty 60 pound bundle of love is a Great Dane / German Shepherd mix. She is just 14 months old and  very healthy. Rey is housebroken and crate trained. She is good with kids, but because she is still in her puppy phase and could use some training, she is not a good choice for small children. (Imagine a bull in a china shop that drank 4 cups of coffee, and you will get the picture!)

Rey has already had all that expensive vet stuff done: she is spayed, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. Rey has already accumulated quite a few belongings, which will be coming with her to her new home.

This dog is such a big teddy bear. She LOVES to cuddle and is very devoted. She can be a bit of a goof, and because of her age, she is quite high energy and playful. If she were a Chihuahua, it would be no problem, but because of her size, this has made things rather difficult for her family, who have small children.  Her energy level has made it difficult for the family to provide her with the exercise and training she needs and very much deserves.

Rey is looking for the best home ever! She needs a home with a large back yard that is securely fenced. She is OK on her own for part of the day, but she is hoping, however, that her new owners will give her lots of quality time, and are active and able to take her for long walks and playtime. She would love to have another dog to play with – one that is as rough and tumble as she is and can help her get the exercise and stimulation she craves.

Rey is a very good companion, a wonderful friend, and she doubles as your home security force. If you have room for 60 pounds of devotion and a little drool, too, please offer this sweetheart the loving forever home she needs and very much deserves today!

Personality

Very sweet and smart! She loves to practice the tricks I’ve taught her. She’s very energetic and requires a lot of exercise. The only thing that really tires her out is playing with other dogs. On the days she doesn’t get playtime, I have to keep her constantly entertained with chews, stuffed Kongs, etc. If she doesn’t have something to keep her busy, she can become destructive.

Reason For Rehoming

As Rey has grown from a small 2-month-old puppy to a 60 lb powerhouse, she is proving to be not a good fit for our three young children. She plays very rough and they have gotten hurt a few times. We have to keep a close eye on their interactions and can’t let them play together anymore. As a result, Rey isn’t getting the stimulation and exercise that she needs and shows signs of being bored (going outside in the middle of the night to dig). I walk her daily and try to give her as much stimulation as I can, but it’s never enough. I think she would be happiest in a home with another playful dog (she loves to play with other dogs) and teen-aged children or no children at all. She’s a very sweet girl, but is suffering because we can’t give her what she needs at our current stage of life.
