Maxie has been rehomed. She received so many offers from wonderful families, that it was a very difficult task choosing between them. Maxie has now been placed with very loving owners, and is enjoying her “Happily Ever After”.
Here is how our rehoming team presented Maxie to attract her new home:
Hi, My name is Maxie!
Have you been searching for the sweetest, prettiest and smartest little dog on earth? I am pretty darned close! I am a gorgeous 16 pound bundle of love. I have a long, silky cream colored coat, expressive green/light brown eyes and a cute pink nose. I am a terrier mix, and resemble the Wheaton Terrier most, although I am a more compact version.
I am an absolute LOVE dog! I love everyone and everything. I get along great with other pets, including cats, bunnies, chickens… I love kids, too. (As long as they are good with me – I don’t want my eyes poked, tail pulled or to be crushed or jumped on!)
I am being rehomed by my owner. She loves me sooooo much! She is heartbroken to have to make this very difficult decision, but she knows that it is best for me. I thrive on being with my owner, but she is so busy, and her work schedule is just getting busier and busier. I spend so much time alone, waiting for her to come home. She sees that I am really sad, and wants a much better life for me.
I agree with her. I love her a lot, but I really need to have people around me. I want someone who has tons of time to spend with me. I love to play, go for walks, snuggle and just bask in your presence. I am such a great companion, and really need to be given the attention I deserve.
I would be a great addition to almost any home. Ideally, I would love a securely fenced back yard to play in, and maybe another fun dog or two to play with. Some great kids or grandkids to throw my toy for me to fetch would be wonderful. My most urgent need, though, is for someone to spend time with me. I don’t want to be left home alone all day anymore. I want someone who is home for most of each day, and who will adore and cherish me.

Personality
Maxie is so curious! She loves to be active – however, when it’s time to chill, she can do that equally! She is a tomboy kind of dog…she looks frou frou but she can tumble, play (with bigger dogs!), tear up and down hills, run into creeks, chase squirrels and rabbits. And I like getting her out and letting her be a dog. She’s got a smart alec too. I think it’s cute. Like a terrier, she likes to mess with you because they are smart! Her mom was a JRT mix and Maxie has that spark. I don’t know what the other part is, but she be very shy and introverted, too. I swear, it depends on her mood! She has lived with other dogs and cats and gets along well with both. She mostly enjoys 1 on 1 interaction with other dogs. She is quite honestly scared of cats (or reveres them 🙂 and that’s why she makes friends with them usually. They will lay on the same bed and hang out. Maxie loves people too but because she is shy at first, it takes time for her to get to know you. Once she does, she is all over you with love. It seems like a trust thing. (She lived on a farm with other rescue dogs and people, so I am not sure what she encountered as a young pup.) She is a light eater most of the time. I give her a mix of dry with a little wet. And she LOVES steamed broccoli. She also enjoys chasing flies in the house, chew on rawhides and bones, and chilling near me. I often think she could be a search and rescue dog, or and obstacle runner (she loves that stuff!) I most dogs like jobs, but I hear terriers really do. I’ve even inquired with the people who use sheep do foliage removal – Ewe universally Green about whether they might be interested in Maxie. This dog like to be occupied a few hours a day – at least at this age 🙂 As I write this, she’s chillin’ like a villain on the bed beside me now. Also, she barely sheds – her hair is such that it really doesn’t come off a lot, just every once in a while, you’ll see a little clump. Oh, and she had a pink nose and green eyes.
Reason For Rehoming
I have had Maxie since she was 4 months – I raised her, trained her, taught her how to live out of crate in the house (she had never chewed one thing of mine or damaged a home. She has rarely pooped or thrown up in the house – when she didn’t fee well.) Because of my work, I’ve left her for as long as 10 hours and she never potties in the house or chews – she’s really remarkable. The 10 hours is part of my issue (I HATE having to leave her that long, but it is sometimes unavoidable). I am a freelance video producer and I have crazy hours and unusual jobs. During the 3 years I’ve had Maxie, I’ve taken her to daycare (she really doesn’t like it) and have had dog sittters come by (she likes that’s better) if it’s going to be a long day and I know ahead of time. However, being single, therefore the only breadwinner, I don’t have much support on a daily basis. I haven’t had a dog since my previous dog – Poulie Loulie – passed in 2007 at 12 years. In between Poulie and Maxie, I had gone over 6 years without a pet, and I think I forgot how much attention they need and deserve. I adopted Maxie from a pet rescue in Nashville while visiting up there – and she is adorable. After 3 years, however, I have to admit to myself that I just can’t keep up with a dog as a single person who is freelance with jobs that keep me away more that at home. I have actually had to turn down work (that required travel) because of being single with a dog.
I have had this on my mind and heart for well over a year. I have had to thoroughly consider what is best for me and Maxie. And I am glad to have found your service, as I don’t take finding her the right home lightly. But it’s time, because I will be accepting a long term job soon that requires heavy travel. This why I want to find Maxie an awesome home – with people who have a more regular schedule that I do.
