I am a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog (say that 5 times fast!). I am very sweet, pretty silly, and more than a little bit complicated (which is very typical for my breed). I am just 6 years old, and very healthy. I have been neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and crate trained. I am perfectly house broken, and am currently undergoing obedience training.

I was brought to the Pacific Northwest from a high kill shelter in Los Angeles. The shelter said that I had been neglected by my original owners, who turned me in after 6 years for being too rambunctious. I was neutered and microchipped from the humane society in Los Angeles before my trip to the Pacific Northwest.

It is apparent that I did not receive the firm and consistent behavior modification that is so important for my breed. My current owners have done their very best to help me reach my potential as an obedient, well behaved, and confident dog. I am actively in training, and though I have come a very long way I will need continued consistent training to reach my full potential. My training class will follow me within Washington and Oregon state limits. I love agility training and having tasks.

Though I would like to, I am not quite ready to make my own decisions. Unfortunately, where we live is not an ideal environment for me. We are in the city, and with the hustle and bustle of traffic, people coming and going, and other dogs all around me, I tend to become anxious. I feel the need to be protective of my owners and their home.

My ideal situation would be with very experienced dog owners who understand my breed and who can be patient, consistent, and very firm with me. I would be so much better off in a rural home, where I am not constantly being overstimulated by all the city noises and activity. I need owners who are home a good part of the time, and who can give me a job to do. Helping with chores and having a purpose will go a long way towards helping me feel settled and calm.

I am usually good with other dogs, but I need to be placed in home without cats or other small animals. I am best suited for dogs that are medium to large in size.  I am not a good choice for families with small children, but would be OK with kids older than 12.

I am good with other medium to large dogs, as long as I am introduced properly.  I need to be placed in a home with a friend that I can play with or an only pet home. I haven’t had experience with children so would require special precautions to be introduced.

Introductions to other pets and children require controlled environments as I can become excited and that can be misconstrued as aggression.

Please offer me the safe, happy and quiet country home I need and deserve.

Love and Licks,

Lunk

Personality

He is very sweet and silly. He’s 6 years old going on 6 months old. He is smart and has gotten his obedience training down. He loves agility training. He’s foot fancy but at the same time clumsy from not watching where he’s going.

Reason For Rehoming

He is not adapting to city life. We live in the middle of the city with a good size yard. He would be much happier in the country where there is less ‘scary’ stimuli.
