Personality

Kibo is a two year old, happy, and social Border Collie/American Staffordshire Terrier. He is house trained, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Kibo loves games of fetch, chew toys, swimming, and playing with other dogs. He is great with all dogs.

Kibo is happiest with daily exercise from ball, playing with other dogs, and walks. Regardless of his high energy, this guy loves his cuddles and spends much of his time on his back with legs in all directions. Kibo’s favorite place for scratches is his back and he’ll lean in hard for the best pets.

Additionally, Kibo also loves backpacking, camping, snow, and dogparks. Kibo does well off-leash on hikes and stays with his pack. He plays well at dog daycares and dogparks. Kibo is happy being left alone when he has room to move around, therefore he is not crate trained.

Kibo loves to play hide and seek with treats and his ball around the house.

Kibo was very well loved and cared for since the moment he was brought into his previous home at 10 months of age. His previous owner provided him with lots of activities, obedience training, and love.

Due to his previous owner’s scheduling issues, she is no longer able to provide the home she felt Kibo deserved and made the decision to find him a home that could continue to provide the exercise and time he needs.

Kibo graduated from his third class at Ahimsa dog training in Ballard, Seattle and knows his commands well (For example: Sit, Down, Touch, Stay, Off, upupup, Sit Pretty, and Take a Bow). He thrives in clicker and positive reinforcement training, loves his clicker, and is highly food motivated.

Kibo is still working on perfecting ‘Here’ and not jumping on guests. He loves new people and needs guidance on how to properly say hello. Kibo walks well on a leash and will take in his environment with many sniffs.

Kibo is not cat friendly nor a good fit with young children due to his high energy.

Reason For Rehoming

This has been a very difficult decision. I entered into graduate school a year ago and have found I have not been able to care for Kibo in the same manner as before. I have less time and money resources to provide for him. I do not see my load lessening in the next two years and feel like he would be better off with someone that can give him the time and care he deserves.

He is a very intelligent and loving dog. I have put months of training into him and he has blossomed. This decision to re-home has been heartbreaking. I really would love to pass along all the things he has learned so his next owners can continue.

He would do really well with more training which would help boast his confidence. He has completed three positive-reinforcement trainings through Ahimsa in Ballard, Seattle.
